NEW YORK – The trailer for documentary “20 Days in Mariupol” is out ahead of the film’s theatrical premiere in New York next month.

THE feature documentary is a co-production between Associated Press and Frontline PBS.

Directed by AP’s Mstyslav Chernov, it traces the nearly three-week period during which an AP team spent Ukrainian city of Mariupol as it was besieged by invading Russian forces at the start of the war in February and March 2022. The team, consisting of Chernov, photographer Evgeniy Maloletka and field producer Vasilisa Stepanenko, became the only international journalist operating in the city. During their stay, they showed the world the effects of war on the civilian population, in particular the bombing of a maternity ward. Their coverage has been recognized worldwide and has notably received the prestigious award Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.

The film won numerous awards, including the People’s Choice Award at the Sundance Film Festival. It continues to screen at a number of film festivals and will be released in limited releases to theaters in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and elsewhere.
